Born in 1926 right here at The Barclay, our beloved bear comes from the distinguished Vanderbilt lineage, whose railway legacy helped shape both New York and our hotel’s early days. As a young cub, Barclay grew up listening to the hum of nearby Grand Central Terminal, sparking a lifelong love of exploration. He later became a train conductor, traveling from coast to coast and collecting stories, friendships, and adventures along the way.

Now, Barclay has come home — returning to the very place where his journey began.
